A couple weeks ago we went with our Phoenix College photography class to the Desert Botanical Garden. I've been there a few times before, for an evening wedding and for the super-magical Noches de Luminarias they have around Christmas time. I never realized how enchanting and gorgeous the place is during the day, so I had to go back. I rented a macro lens from Tempe Camera and by the time I got there it was getting kinda late in the day. The butterfly garden was about to close but I got in (after a little pleading and begging!) In the evening, the butterflies go to bed, so I mostly got pictures of slumbering butterflies, but there were a couple little night-owls who were ready for their close-ups!
The cactus looked as tasty as cupcakes! So pretty I wanted to eat them, but I'll stick to photographing them. The icing on these cactus cupcakes would be a little photoshop to make them pop. I'll have to get around to doing that.
